Summer Of Interviews: Panda-kiddie

Q.When did you discover dA and what made you start using it? 

A.I joined dA on April 2012. My friend had been talking a lot about this site and that made me go and check it out. Actually, I really liked the community, there were some nice people who encouraged me to continue submitting my art (by that time, it was mostly just random animal sketches and some nature photos).

Q. Could you tell us a little about your username and what made you choose it? 

A.Sure:3
Don't you mind if I say some words about my former username? When I first joined dA, I had no idea about how this site works, except that it offers the opportunity to showcase your art. So.. The username I had before was SilentFly3 [yeah, I couldn't come up with something good]. Honestly speaking, SilentFly was the name of the rock band I was writing a book about (to be exact, not a book, but a screenplay).

But when I had gotten a little obsessed with red pandas and when a very generous person had given me a premium membership, I decided to change it to Panda-kiddie. The panda part is obviously goes for my love to those fluffy cuties, and kiddie represents my wish to stay forever young and never grow old. I'm still quite childish in my soul~

Q. When did you begin drawing? 

A.Er.. When I was 3? I remember I always enjoyed drawing. My parents still keep my old drawings somewhere.
Well, I can say I began "professionally" drawing 5-6 years ago. Sadly, during all those years I haven't drawn much due to the lack of time, so my drawing skills leave something to be desired.

Q. What attracted you to ferrets and red pandas? 

A.I liked ferrets since the day I got one! After having one for a year, I got another one. And guess what! I want to buy the 3d one now haha.. I'm a ferret addict! Ferrets truly make great pets to have. Ask any ferret owner and they'll tell you the same.

As for the red pandas, well they are just cute, funny, energetically-lazy animals. 

Q. What type of art did you begin doing? Drawing, stamps, photo manipulations, etc. 

A.I started with drawing. I also adore taking pictures. These days I try to take good pictures according to all the rules of photography (well, I try to). I plan to try to take unusual pictures soon, it's going to be a challenge cause I've never tried doing anything like this before.

Q. What made you begin photographing ferrets? 

A.First, I want to say – ferrets are super hard to take pictures of! They NEVER sit still with an exception when they are asleep. The real reason why I take pictures of the ferrets is because they are my pets. If I had a dog or a cat, I'd take pictures of them.

Q. What is your favorite piece of art you have created?

It's simple, sad, has a white wolf that I like and it's the most realistic photo manipulation I made so far.

Q. Do you have any hobbies outside of dA? 

A.A lot! I like skateboarding, playing the keyboard/piano – I'm currently composing my own song. I enjoy writing stories, poems and lyrics. But above all things, I like acting, making movies and voice acting. We recently made our first short movie, and now we are working on the video clip the stars of which will my ferrets.

Q. How many types of animals have you worked with? 

A.You mean, in a photographic way? I worked with various homeless cats and dogs. And I often take pictures of my ferrets, my hamster and my two parrots.
